The Orbis is an ongoing series of orb-shaped sculptures that combine rocks with man-made materials to explore tensions between human consciousness and that of the natural world. Guided by this unifying concept, each sculpture is unique, made with a combination of natural rocks – from volcanic to quartz, representing earth’s resources and bound together with man-made material, concrete.
Each orb appears like the shell of a deserted planet, evoking thoughts of how our everyday choices impact the bigger picture of our own home planet. The stone-scape appearance invites visitors to undertake a journey to explore the detailed textures, fossil-like details and to look beyond the surface into the interior.
Each sculpture asks us to consider that even though nothing is perfect, there is perfection in the details that can guide us to dig deep into our subconscious and embolden us to make small, positive changes that will benefit humanity and Mother Earth.
